If you see a large man…
Who’s jolly and cute,
Wearing a beard
and a red flannel suit,
and if he is chuckling
and laughing away,
while flying around
in a miniature sleigh
with eight tiny reindeer
to pull him along,
then let’s face it…
Your eggnog is too strong!
-Henry Gibson
Eggnog has been a celebratory tradition dating back as far as the 13th century. The first versions were blends of eggs, milk, figs, and sherry. But when it landed in the Americas, rum became the spirit of choice. This made it less expensive and available to the masses.
For a “nog” with a bit more character than the traditional American version, try the Coquito from Puerto Rico. The silky blend of coconut, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon will certainly liven-up your holiday season.
