Looking to wow your party guests with a truly unique looking cocktail this Halloween? Use these two new mixology applications to create this awesome looking Asian Fizz long drink created by Florida mixologist David Ortiz.

Aqua Faba: Bring on the Foam!
Aqua Faba is water from a garbanzo beans’ can. When added to a mixed drink and shaken, it creates a distinctive cream froth. If you add club soda, it amplifies the foam!
Bonus: This ingredient is vegan and food friendly.

Dried Butterfly Pea Flowers: Natural Food Coloring
This application is very easy to execute. When soaked in hot water, dried Butterfly Pea Flowers produce a natural dye for any cocktail or food. When this ingredient is added to a drink that has citrus, the PH will turn the blue liquid into a light pink. When it is added to drinks with higher PH levels, it will turn into a dark purple color, giving the drink an impressive look.
Butterfly Pea Flowers can be purchased online (

Asian Fizz Recipe:
Boil 1 cup of water. Remove the water from the heat source, and soak 12 dried Butterfly Pea Flowers in the hot water for approximately 15 minutes. Set aside and allow for the water to cool.

Combine the following ingredients in a Shaker Tin:
2oz. Western Son Yuzu Vodka
1oz. Lemon juice
1oz. Aqua Faba
.75oz. Simple syrup.
Shake hard, and pour into a 9oz. highball glass. After the froth sits, add 3oz. Fever Tree Club Soda.
Once the hot water containing the Butterfly Pea Flowers has cooled, strain out the flowers. The water should be dyed blue. Add the preferred amount of the blue liquid to the highball glass until you get the desired pink or purple color effect you’re looking to present & enjoy.
