When should you drink Irish coffee; the Irish say whenever you feel the need for something that will warm you to your toes. As you are sipping on this rich warm cocktail creation made with Irish whiskey, let yourself be taken back in time to 1943. The creator of this delicious concoction is Joe Sheridan who was a chef during that time at a small airport near Limerick, Ireland. The airport was usually just a stopover for longer flights. One evening a flight had to turn back to the Foynes Airbase, and Joe, feeling sympathy for the cold and tired passengers, prepared for them something special. The story goes that silence descended as everyone enjoyed the first Irish coffee cocktail ever made.
Can you picture this cold night, while you are sipping on your warm drink as your taste buds are enjoying the flavor of coffee, Irish whiskey and sweet cream?
Let me share with you one of my unique Irish coffee recipes named from The Ring of Kerry which is a scenic road that takes you around the Southwestern Kerry county of Ireland breathtaking green coastal landscape. Cheers!
